Paste your script here, or type directly into this box to see the text scroll while you read it out loud. Adjust the speed and font size with the controls below, and press Play when you are ready to start.
What an online teleprompter does
An online teleprompter scrolls the text you type or paste across your browser window at a set speed, so you can read out loud while looking near your webcam. Open this page, paste your script, and press Play. There is nothing to install and no account to create.
Use this browser tool when you are reading on a video call from a laptop or rehearsing a script before you record. Your script stays in your browser tab and is never uploaded to a server.
How to use the online teleprompter
Follow four steps in the control panel:
- Paste or type your script into the text box.
- Pick a reading speed in words per minute and adjust the font size.
- Turn on mirror mode (horizontal, vertical, or both) if you are placing the screen under teleprompter glass.
- Press Play to start scrolling. Press Pause or hit the spacebar any time to hold your place.
Recording on an iPhone instead of reading in a browser
This web tool works well on a laptop next to a webcam, or when you want to practice a talk. It only scrolls at a fixed words-per-minute speed, and it does not record video or listen to your microphone.
When you want to record vertical video on your iPhone while you read, Atrio is an iPhone teleprompter app with voice follow: it moves the script as you speak, waits when you pause, and records with the front camera at the same time. You can check your script length first with the speech time calculator, or read how on-device speech recognition works on the voice-activated teleprompter page.
Questions about the online teleprompter
- Is this online teleprompter free?
- Yes. Pasting your text, adjusting words per minute, changing the font size, and using mirror mode are all free. There is no usage limit and no account.
- Do I need to install anything?
- No. This page runs in your browser on a computer or phone. Your text and scrolling stay in your browser tab, and nothing is sent to a server.
- Can I use it to record video on my phone?
- You can open this page in your phone's browser and record with a separate camera, but this web page does not access your camera or record video. If you want to record vertical video with the iPhone front camera while the script moves with your voice, the Atrio iPhone app does both at once.
- How do I set the speed to match how I talk?
- Use the words per minute control. A conversational speaking pace is around 150 words per minute. Start there and adjust the number up or down until the scroll matches your voice.
- Does mirror mode work?
- Yes. If you read through a physical beam-splitter glass rig, turn on horizontal or vertical mirror mode so the reflection reads the right way in the glass.
